On the edge of Pemberton township towers one of the tallest karri trees and one visitors are permitted to climb – the Gloucester Tree.
There are 3 tall trees that visitors are permitted to climb in the Manjimup Shire, and this is probably the most famous. Originally the tree was used as a fire lookout for Rangers but in more recent years it has been opened up for tourists to take the precarious climb to the top – worthwhile for the fantastic views.
Climbing permits must be obtained from the Pemberton Visitor Centre before climbing the tree.
