The South West of Western Australia comprises a triangular region stretching from the town of Harvey located about 2 hours drive south of Perth, down to Augusta on the South West tip of the state and which is about 3.5 hour drive from Perth, and east to Albany which is about a 5.5 hour drive from Perth.
Regional country roads in Western Australia are well signposted and traffic conditions are generally quite light compared. Services in country areas such as petrol stations and shops can be quite limited in some areas between major towns.

Perth Airport Services:

Perth domestic and international terminals are located on opposite sides of Perth Airport. There is a shuttle service operating between the two terminals.
Perth Airport is roughly 30 minutes drive to Perth city. Metered taxis and shuttle bus services are readily available at both terminals.

Car Hire:

Traffic in Australia drives on the left hand side and vehicles are right-hand drive.
There are a number of car hire companies at the airport including:
– Avis
– Hertz
– Europcar
If you are arriving into Perth in the later afternoon, we recommend you stay overnight in Perth. Driving on the country roads at night can be tiring, especially after a long flight, and kangaroos can be a problem in some areas.

Charter Vehicles and Buses:

Private charter vehicles and charter buses are available to be booked from Perth and most of the larger centres including Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River and Albany.
For contact details and recommendations we suggest you contact the main tourist visitor centre for the appropriate area or contact South West Development Corporation.

Trains:

A rail service operates from Perth to Bunbury. The “Australind” runs twice daily from Perth and takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes travelling time.

Regional Flights:

Virgin Australia operates flights from Perth to Albany and Busselton. For further details visit http://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/plan/timetables-route-maps/flight-timetables/
