Yallingup is an Aboriginal word meaning “place of love”. For the handful of locals who live here and the tourists who come every year for the surf, the name is most appropriate.
Located at the northern end of the Cape, about 10 minutes West of Dunsborough, Yallingup has not changed a great deal over the years. After its caves were discovered by European settlers in 1899, Yallingup became popular with tourists but it is really the surf that attracts the visitors.
Just south of Yallingup is Smiths Beach which also has some great surf breaks, namely Super Tubes, while continuing slightly further south again is magnificent Injidup Beach and Cape Clairault. This beach is often deserted and is overlooked by some amazing houses and the luxurious Injidup Spa Retreat. Between Smiths Beach and Injidup you will also find the quite unusual rock formation called Canal Rocks which you can access by a short bridge over the deep blue waters.
North of Yallingup the Cape heads towards Cape Naturaliste but along the way is the prominent Sugarloaf Rock.
Within Yallingup itself you can find a very traditional old-style general store, affectionately called Andy’s, plus the popular old pub, now hotel called Caves House. A path runs from the hotel down to the beach but beware of using the path at night – tales of ghosts being seen along the path have been circulating for many years.

Key attractions in and around Yallingup include:
