The city of Busselton is a mixture of bustling industry and commerce with the relaxed style of a sleepy beachside holiday town.
While popular for retirees and older travellers, the city also attracts families and younger visitors drawn by the easy living, beautiful long bay with its calm waters, and its easy accessibility to everything the south-west has to offer.
The key focal point of Busselton must be the old jetty which juts our over 1km into the ocean and is the longest such structure in the southern hemisphere. As the venue for ironman races around the jetty and activities such as fishing, swimming, novelty train rides and the underwater observatory positioned on the end of the jetty, it offers a myriad of possibilities.
Busselton is also home to the Geographe Marina complex, a combination of yacht marina and residential canal development with some amazing houses built upon the watersedge.
While accommodation in Busselton itself is limited, stretching from the town west towards Dunsborough are many resorts and motels, as well as dozens of holiday camps belonging to various community and religious groups, established many years ago and nearing the end of their 100 year leases, they provide a rather unique slice of Australiana.
With a council strong on development of events and culturally diverse activities, this is a region well worth your attention.
